Part of an upcoming installation for Judy Radul, may use the Arduino Board to control a sony LANC camera, so I hacked up a test, which works great thanks to some fancy code to detect the framing boundaries for LANC, here it is. Enjoy!
Open source so let me know if you hack it some more.
Any special circuit associated ?
ReplyDeleteGreat work, Brady. I've built a derivative work, which I call Zoomduino. It uses your source code with a potentiometer to control zoom direction and speed. I've got it working with my XH-A1, and it successfully powers the Arduino from the LANC port.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I was looking for, may alas ... the ftp doesn't seem to work anymore. Any chance of an updated link?
ReplyDeleteI've mirrored the download on my own site, http://www.findlayproductions.ca/Arduino%20LANC.zip.
ReplyDeletethanks goose, and i've testest the FTP, the ftp://ftp.furiousgreencloud.com/Arduino-LANC/01-00/Arduino%20LANC.zip is the full url.
ReplyDeleteNo special circuit is required just a custom cable.
ReplyDeletefrom the README:
1. Make a LANC Cable & Connect Up the Ardunio
This is an "open connector" which i not NOT fully understand. Anyway get a 2.5" Stereo Connector from you local electronics store.
This is a Ring, Tip, Sleeve connector.
- Connect the Sleeve to GND of the Arduino Board
- Connect the Tip to the Digital PIN #3 on the Arduino Board

This code was tested on Duemilanove and ArduninoBT and works with the only 2 camera i've had access to a SONY and a CANON. I'll post the model numbers soon.
ReplyDeleteI also highly recommend a camera which support the VISCA protocol for precise automated control of all aspects of your camera.
ReplyDeletethe Canon is a xhg1s.
